Aaj News reports that the new airport is 26 km northeast of the old Gwadar airport and spans 3,000 acres, and that it is Pakistan’s second greenfield airport after the new Islamabad airport. Trips.pk reports that the first commercial flight, from Karachi, landed on 20 January 2025.

PIA flies Karachi to Gwadar with ATR aircraft in about 1 hour 30 minutes, according to Trips.pk and DirectFlights. Sources disagree on how often, with two or three flights a week reported, so check the airline’s current timetable. Daily Times reported on 3 July 2026 that South Air would run two new flights from 9 July to 31 October 2026, improving links with Karachi and Quetta. That period ends soon, so ask what runs after it. ARY News reported in June 2026 that a notice to airmen temporarily changed the airport’s operating hours.
From Lahore and Abroad
Trips.pk, a booking site, says there are no direct Lahore to Gwadar flights in 2026 and puts the trip at 11 to 14 hours with a Karachi layover. It says the road journey from Lahore takes more than 22 hours and the drive from Karachi along the Makran Coastal Highway about 8 hours. Confirm all times with the airline before you book, because a booking site is not a timetable.
What to Check Before You Book
Confirm the day of the flight, because low frequencies mean a missed or cancelled flight can cost you days.
