What the Southern Loop Is
The Punjab government’s project page describes the Southern Loop as almost 37 km long, in four sections: SL-I (9.35 km), SL-II (13 km), SL-III (8 km) and SL-IV (17 km). SL-I and SL-II run from near Sui Gas Society at Kamhan to Raiwind Road near Adda Plot. They were structured as a build-operate-transfer project, which the PPP steering committee approved in February 2016. SL-III runs from Adda Plot on Raiwind Road to Multan Road.
Why SL-III Matters for Bahria Town and Bahria Orchard
SL-III is the section that was delayed. Wikipedia reports that work on it was held up from 2016 by litigation from Bahria Town Lahore, and a Dawn headline reports that the Lahore High Court vacated Bahria Town’s stay on construction. Zameen.com describes SL-III as about 8 km with two interchanges, one near NFC Phase 2 and one on Multan Road. A Dawn headline dated 15 April 2026 says the chief minister approved the SL-4 project.

Wikipedia lists DHA, Sui Gas Housing Society, Eden Park, State Life Housing Society, Eden Gardens, Valencia, Khayaban-e-Amin, Lake City, AWT, Fazaia Housing Scheme and Bahria Town as societies the Southern Loop links. Being on that list does not tell you where the road or its interchanges sit relative to your plot.
Sources Disagree on Status
Some explainers describe SL-I and SL-II as open and SL-III as still to be finished. Other pages are older and describe the same sections as under construction. Do not rely on any single article, including this one. Ask the Lahore Ring Road Authority or your society’s office for the current status of the section nearest you.
Checks Before You Pay a Ring Road Premium
Ask how far the plot is from the nearest interchange, not just from the road. Ask whether the plot or its block lies on land needed for the alignment or an access road. Ask for recent completed transfers in the block, because asking prices show what sellers hope for, not what buyers paid. Put any claim about future price rises in writing, and treat a seller who will not do so as a warning. A road can improve access, but it can also add noise and traffic beside a plot.
